Guru Har Krishan Sahib incarnated on July 7, 1656 AD in the womb of Mata Krishan Kaur at the house of Guru Har Rai Sahib, Sri Kiratpur Sahib, Ropar. Today, the beautiful Gurdwara Shish Mahal Sahib is adorned on this site.
On 6 October 1661, at the age of five, he succeeded to the throne of Guru Nanak and remained on the throne for 3 years. In his last days in Delhi, he gave a signal to Baba Bakala to Sangat that Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth heir to the throne of Nanak and he is living in the Bakala location. During his Guruship, he led the Sikh Panth with great insight, wisdom, determination, and courage.
At the last moment, Guru Harkrishan Sahib wished that nobody should mourn him after his death and instructed them to sing the hymns of Gurbani. Thus the ‘Bala Pir’ passed away on Chet Sudi 14, (3rd Vaisakh), Bikrami Samvat 1721, (30th March 1664) slowly reciting the word “Waheguru” till the end.
