Guru Har Rai Gurgaddi Diwas 2023

On this day, we celebrate the 379th Gurgaddi Purab of Sri Guru Har Rai Ji, who was born on 16th January 1630 AD in Kiratpur Sahib to Baba Gurditta, the eldest son of Guru Hargobind and Mata Nihal Kaur. Let us honor the memory of this compassionate and wise leader, who ascended to the throne of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 1644, and continues to inspire us with his teachings of love, kindness, and service to all.

His childhood was spent at Kiratpur Sahib. When he was about 8 years old, his father Baba Gurditta left his physical body. He spent the next 10 years of his life under the care of his grandfather Guru Hargobind.

Guru Har Rai received his primary education from Bhai Dargah Mall and received his weaponry from Bhai Bidhi Chand China. Due to his special dedication, hard work, and seriousness of the teachers, he attained equal expertise in arms and science education till the age of 13-14 years.

The name of Purohit Jati Mall is also worth mentioning among your teachers. While he was a man of knowledge and a sweet disposition, his heart was also very tender.
